Courtyard by Marriott Portland North

For a short-term, budget stay, this hotel gets the job done, but I will not be returning.

Staff: The staff was unfailingly polite, pleasant, and helpful. I can’t say enough nice things about their hard work and positive attitude. It was clear the hotel is operating on a skeleton staff, and the staff went out of their way to accommodate guests. The room was basically clean. Didn’t spot mold.

Cons Difficult access. Guests with large SUVs may find parking challenging. Parking costs$. WiFi: Guests must create an account with a login ID and password on the Marriott site to access WiFii. There was no direct port plug-in. Room cleaning is not daily. The room was basically clean. Didn’t spot mold. The toilet is extremely low to the ground; a couple of outlets had burn marks on the outside. The mattresses were soft. The bedding was clean and warm enough. Heater: I turned on the heater and the entire room began to smell like urine. BISTRO/Coffee Bar: Limited hours. Understaffed. The perfumed body wash is overwhelming. If the guest is asthmatic/allergic or sensitive to perfumes, they may have trouble. The same is true for the cleaning agent used. Guest Laundry Room: Opened the door, and the humidity and smell of mold were overwhelming. View: charge for water view. Technically, the water view (charge for water view) could be seen if standing in the corner of the room and looking sideways through the window. Do not recommend.

Wouldn't stay here again.

Staff not too freindly. Property was nice. Location was good but I wish I stayed in Vancouver.

Cons Pool and spa facilities were disappointing. It doesn’t cover for larger guests numbers.

When I first got to the hotel, it was filthy outside. That should have been my first indication of what this was going to look like. The lobby is fine, the parking lot if very tight, beware if you have a larger vehicle. We get to our room and the bathroom floor is filthy, call the front desk and they send someone up to clean it. It was gross but I’m with my kid and letting it go. Also we had a pull out sofa bed that was not usable and had to share a bed. Don’t market something as two bed without a functional bed. The place is ok, there were constantly out of towels at the pool, the snacks you can buy are slim. The restaurant looks cute but they had a very small menu. The lady at the coffee shop area was working alone and as quickly as possible. She was taking orders, bringing out food and making coffees. I saw three staff at the front desk and no one was helping her. She was lovely and had a huge line with no help. Our last night here at 12:30am we woke up to bright lights under our door and banging and very loud people. I thought a bunch of people came back from the bar. I look out the peep hole and it the house keeping staff. I am like guys what is going on and then they say it’s fine, I tell them it’s actually not fine, we were sleeping and they really didn’t care at all. When they leave the room, they are slamming doors and yelling at each other down the hall. I have never had such an insane experience with hotel staff before. Wynter and Juan were bright lights at this place and fantastic. Most of the staff were lovely, this place just is understaffed and not ran well. Incredibly disappointing and honestly should charge less for this nonsense.
