Walk to art, music, and gardens in the heart of downtown Portland
We enjoyed the $15 per diem credit that came with our deal, and which we used several times in the tavern. The room was spacious, comfortable and quiet, with good HVAC as well as the option of opening the window for some fresh air. Bedside lighting was nice and bright, great for people who like to read in bed. Coffee was the best I've had in a hotel, brilliant to provide a French press! Never had to wait long for the elevator. Staff was courteous and helpful; Kyle helped us with a ferry reservation printout. Opulent hang-out spaces on the mezzanine were lovely, appreciated tables on which to use laptops as well as lounging-about furniture for sipping drinks. We walked or took public transit to everything, so we'll see about leaving our car at home next time. It would be a nice place to stay if the weather wasn't good, as there is plenty of room to roam indoors.
Cons We lingered too long in the room the morning of the second day, overlapping with housekeeping duties, but couldn't make staff understand that we would be out of the room in a few minutes. When I called down to the desk to ask for a fresh couple of coffee cups and a clean French press, we never did receive them. And housekeeping did not freshen our room on the third day, either. Little bit of a disconnect, there. Bathroom lighting was romantic, but dim, so a bit challenging for activities requiring strong light.

nice room. staff under staffed. communication tools and verification tools lacking.
I thought the staff were helpful
Cons I thought the staff were helpful, but they were woefully understaffed and could not change their circumstances. We did not have internet for the entire stay. I had to wait an hour for my valet. I don't think this was the valet's fault - I think it was a miscommunication between the front desk and valet. I had called down twenty minutes prior to coming down the the valet and I had to wait approximately 40 minutes for my vehicle. I checked in with the front desk again, upon checkout, and they assured me it would be ready. Management should not count on a phone call to do it. You need a system to prevent drop of service and to verify service is done. Take care of your customers and take care of your staff.

Location, staff,
Cons Confusion with the bill regarding Booking.com reservation. Duplicate charges were incorrect, although ultimately corrected. This is the 2nd time I’ve been charged incorrectly. As I am a long time loyal customer I hope The Heathman can streamline their 3rd party billing practices.

Warm, welcoming, and convenient stay downtown with comfortable rooms and a helpful staff.
The location was excellent, within walking distance to the museum and lots of downtown shopping and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the formal sitting room was lovely - stately yet cozy. We didn't visit the bar or restaurant, but the chocolate shop was awesome :)
Cons Upon entering, it was a little confusing as to where to proceed to the lobby. There were a few steps up with our heavy suitcases, and the lobby was past the ramp to the restaurant and around the corner. It turns our there was a small lift for suitcases, but again, it wasn't obvious and seemed cumbersome.
