Great location!

Location, views, pool area, breakfast by pool area. No charge for parking, which is a big plus.

Cons Charging an extra $30 for a noon check in, which any other hotel wouldn't be a fee. A nickel and dime move. Cobwebs and leaves under the chairs at the pool, not kept up clean on a consistent basis. The big waste of space remains of the abandoned former restaurant, which is the view of all the rooms. The walk down to the beach from the door going down the dirt hill remains the same year after year. Slippery with no steps..unkempt, water pipes leaking. Looks like the owners don't really care about making the best out of something that could be great. They figure, why bother trying to be good or great because we have the location and people will pay. You don't really see pride in ownership. It was formerly a Best Western. It looks like it was just bought and then nothing done with it. With that location, it could be something great.

Felt cheap but we paid reasonable amount.

Cons Noisy guests. Children running around late at night. Pool area adults having party noisy.

Cons Front desk guy rude. No soap or shampoo in dispensers bare minimum help I ordered uber to get supplies and met the guy in the lobby and the front desk guy was lounging being lazy on his phone and I asked him did anyone come for a delivery acted very uninterested. So sad place is decent but lazy work ethic in room and out. Should have stayed else where.

Cons This hotel was very overpriced. The pool was inadequate and the jacuzzi was broken. The air barely worked and the room was not as expected. The staff was not helpful. Very disappointing.

Shower smells like sewage. Very disappointing

The property is seriously in need of rehabilitation. It’s stuck in the 70’s. The pool area is still nice but the rooms need a serious upgrade. The staff is nice and accommodating. The problem we ran into is the shower. When taking a shower it smelled horrible. It was like sewage. I reported it and nothing. They were sold out so moving rooms wasn’t an option. The AC wasn’t blowing cold but the maintenance man came up and fixed it. I told him of the shower problems and he said it was from years of hair and goo buildup in the old pipes. He put a bottle of drain opener and it did nothing. We’re very disappointed in the Encinitan as we’re have stayed there many times in the past. The location is perfect along with the parking but we’ll look elsewhere the next time for a more modern upgraded property.
