Samantha Spring, CPA
Co-Founder & CFO, Roomza

A finance-side founder built around discipline and transparency. Done right, finance isn’t bookkeeping. It supports the whole commercial operation: what gets sold, what gets priced, where the model breaks. Hotel finance is especially good at burying that signal under intentional noise. My job is clearing it out so owners and operators can see what’s actually driving the bottom line.

How I got here
Three vantage points on what numbers actually mean. I started in assurance at PwC, checking other companies’ books. Moved to corporate finance at Orion Worldwide, building the forecasts that decisions were made on. Then to IMGN Media as Director of Finance, running a function rather than reporting one. By the time I joined Roomza, I’d seen the same numbers from all three sides, and learned which ones tend to mislead the people reading them.
I joined Curtis as Co-Founder and CFO in 2021. The first chapter of Roomza was an operating hotel company: three properties in New Orleans, New York, and Baltimore. That’s where I learned how hotel finance actually works, which is mostly to say where it doesn’t. Most hotel P&Ls are built to be defensible at the asset-management meeting, not to be honest at the bottom of the page. The room-level data underneath them tells a different story.
In 2025 we closed the operated hotels and rebuilt Roomza as a data and AI platform. The job didn’t change much. Room-level data is still the most honest thing in the building, and the role of finance is still to make sure the owners and operators we serve can see it clearly.
What I’m working on
- Roomza
Co-founder and CFO. The finance side of the room-level data thesis: unit economics, capital efficiency, and what hotels are willing to pay for the data they used to give away.
Fractional CFO
Independent CFO work for early-stage startups in New York. Hospitality, consumer, and tech.
- The Roomza Report
Editorial publication on room-level data, AI agents in travel, and the operators who get hospitality right. I write on the finance side: the operating math behind what hotels actually deliver.
- Female Founders in Hospitality, Cohort 1
An inaugural member of the founder collective established in 2022 to support women building in travel and hospitality.
What I’m thinking about
How hospitality businesses actually price the things they sell, and how often the answer is “we don’t.” What changes for hotel P&L when AI agents broker more of the booking funnel. Why founders without a CFO seat at the table burn through capital the wrong way. And how much noise sits between an owner and the number that should be driving their decisions.
