Heaven on earth
The most beautiful place we stayed in! The forest surrounding you, the common areas perfectly taken care of, the room with no walls letting you be fully immersed in nature, the staff giving you every day a warm yet professional hospitality treatment. Everything in this place is perfect! We loved the food as well, which was a great surprise of unconventional dishes always changing during our stay. The highlight is that this place resets your circadian rhythm, being fully exposed to natural light your body reconnects immediately. The property offers many different activities every day. In our next stay we will try to engage more with those rather than having a busy schedule outside. The team all and our lovely host Widi, special thanks to him, made our stay memorable during our wedding anniversary trip! And it was a pleasure seeing them all genuinely happy there and interested in engaging in conversation with all guests. It is a must stay in Bali for us from now on.
Cons Nothing at all
An unforgettable experience in the heart of Bali — Buahan exceeded every expectation It is difficult to put into words just how special our stay at Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape was. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, everything felt thoughtful, personal and genuinely heartfelt. Buahan is not simply a beautiful luxury resort — it is an experience in itself, and one that we will remember for a very long time. The setting is absolutely magical. Hidden within the untouched Balinese jungle, surrounded by lush greenery, breathtaking views and the sounds of nature, Buahan gives you an incredible sense of peace and connection to Bali. The open-air concept makes the experience even more unique, allowing you to feel completely immersed in your surroundings. Our villa was simply perfect — beautiful, private, incredibly comfortable and seamlessly integrated into the landscape. Waking up every morning surrounded by the jungle felt almost surreal. Everything about the property is designed with such attention to detail while still respecting and celebrating the nature around it. But what truly made our stay exceptional were the people. A very special and heartfelt thank you goes to Widi, the manager, who went above and beyond to make our entire stay extraordinary. His warmth, kindness, attention to detail and genuine care made us feel incredibly welcome and looked after from beginning to end. He added so many thoughtful touches to our experience and made sure that everything was perfect. Widi is a huge part of the reason why our time at Buahan felt so personal and special, and we are genuinely grateful to him. We would also love to personally thank Riska and Sri, who were absolutely wonderful, as well as every single member of the restaurant and service team. Everyone was warm, attentive, kind and always seemed genuinely happy to make our experience better.

A place that stays with you long after you leave
I haven't written a hotel review in over ten years, but this one moved me to action! We’ve been fortunate enough to stay in some incredible hotels around the world, but Buahan is in a league of its own. This isn’t just somewhere to stay, it’s an experience that reconnects you with nature, slows you down and reminds you what genuine hospitality feels like. The accommodation is unlike anything we’ve experienced before. The open-concept villas, with no doors or walls separating you from the outside world, sound daunting on paper but are nothing short of magical. Waking up to the sounds of the rainforest, watching the mist drift through the trees and feeling completely immersed in nature while enjoying every luxury imaginable is something we’ll never forget. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable, beautifully designed and somehow manage to feel both wild and incredibly peaceful at the same time. The swimming pool is breathtaking. Overlooking the iconic seven mountain peaks, it has to be one of the most spectacular settings we’ve ever swum in. Every moment spent there felt surreal. The food deserves special mention. Every breakfast was a joy, showcasing fresh local ingredients, while the evening tasting menus were outstanding. Each meal told a story of Balinese culture and produce and dining became one of the highlights of every day. Thank you to Monica who catered to our every need and even prepared recipes for us to take home! What truly sets Buahan apart is its people, who are mostly local from the village and all Balinese. The service is thoughtful, intuitive and deeply personal. Nothing is ever too much trouble Everything is delivered with such warmth and authenticity that it never feels formal. Having a dedicated host (thank you Arda!) who effortlessly arranged our activities, transfers and excursions meant we never had to worry about a thing. Everything was seamless. We also loved the daily complimentary activities, which added so much to our stay. Candle making, cocktail making, guided waterfall treks and bike rides through the surrounding countryside gave us a real connection to the local culture and environment. Buahan is so much more than a luxury resort. It’s a place built on respect for nature, Balinese culture and genuine human connection. By the time we left, it felt less like checking out of a hotel and more like saying goodbye to friends. We genuinely didn’t want to leave. It’s rare for a place to have such a lasting impact, but weeks later we’re still talking about Buahan almost every day. We’ll be back.
