Cons The hotel is very old, and while the staff claim that the condition is part of its “style,” the room was actually falling apart (walls peeling,cracks on the wall, heat rail broken..) There was popcorn ceiling, and there was mold on the balcony, which was very concerning. We were also charged more for parking simply because we booked through Booking.com instead of directly through the hotel, which did not feel fair. When we arrived, there were only enough towels for two people, even though our reservation was for four. There were also no complimentary water bottles. While that may seem like a small issue, we had to go out late at night to buy water, with two young children. On top of that, we had to call the front desk because the heat would not turn on, and the bedroom light was not working either. Overall, I’m very disappointed with our stay. I honestly don’t understand how this hotel is rated four stars or why the rates are so high. The condition of the property, the lack of basic amenities, and the maintenance issues do not match the price or the rating.

La ubicación del hotel es maravillosa ya que se encuentra en la zona centro de Victoria, lo que permite un acceso inmediato para las actividades. El restaurante situado en el piso 18 del edificio, tiene una vista maravillosa de Victoria. La habitación es muy comoda conn buenos espacios, cuenta con cafe, frigobar y microondas

Cons El área de la alberca necesita más atención, los baños deberían estar limpios y secos y el piso también debería limpiarse. En el agua de la alberca había cabello, me parece que los filtros deberían cambiarse más a menudo, y debería realizarse una limpieza de alberca cada mañana.

Cons De stroom viel uit toen we de föhn gebruikten. We hadden een 3 persoonskamer, maar er waren maar 2 kopjes en 2 glazen bij de koffiekorner. De douchekraan ging kapot tijdens het gebruik, de knop om de kraan om te zetten naar de douche was erg fragiel.

Everything except the noise at night and in the morning - see below. I especially appreciated the friendliness of the staff. Being from the U.S. I was a little worried about the reception we’d get from Canadians. It’s embarrassing to be from the U.S. at this point in time and I was relieved to find that Canadians did not hold me responsible for the policies and attitudes of those currently in power. I’m sure I will be visiting Victoria again in the future and will stay at the Chateau Victoria again! Thanks to everyone for making my stay so pleasurable!

Cons The only thing I didn’t anticipate was the noise - Saturday and Sunday night of our stay there was some loud party going on with music from the top of a nearby building. It lasted until 1 a.m. on Saturday night. And there was the construction noise going on early in the weekday mornings. Given the location of the hotel, which I liked in all other respects, the noise could not be avoided, I guess. Next time I’ll bring ear plugs!!

Very friendly staff. Clean. Comfortable beds! Excellent location for walking to all the downtown tourist spots.

Cons The portable air conditioning unit in our room was very loud. Glad they had one though.
