It Gets The Job Done!
It's a good location. There is a lobby bar, plus a sky bar on the 15th floor.
Cons I had the King room with a balcony. The room was comfortable. However, there is no couch in the sitting area of that room. Just an ottoman chair and no foot stool. Plus, my balcony didn't have a table outside, as advertised. All and all it was comfortable, except for those few mishaps.
Great views, but overdue for refurbishment
What did you like? The views from the higher floors are excellent – my room on the 11th floor had a wonderful view towards Washington, including the Washington Monument, and the evening views towards the Pentagon were beautiful. The room was a good size and having a fridge and microwave was very useful. Several members of staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, particularly the gentleman who noticed I was still waiting for my room, brought me water and apologised, and the member of staff who assisted us at check-out. There are also very practical food options: the more casual lobby restaurant is good and reasonably priced, food deliveries can be left at a designated area, and a supermarket with a large salad bar and hot food is only about four minutes away.
Cons What didn't you like? Arrival and check-in were disappointing. There was nobody at the downstairs entrance to welcome us or indicate that reception was one floor above. The receptionist appeared inexperienced and needed assistance throughout the check-in process. Although official check-in is at 4 p.m., my room was not ready until 4:45 p.m. Our two rooms were allocated on different floors, which was particularly inconvenient with a 10-year-old as a key card is required to use the lifts and access the floors. The hotel is noticeably dated and needs refurbishment. The bathrooms are old-fashioned, the wooden lift interiors are worn, and the sheer curtains in BOTH of our rooms were badly torn and frayed. My bed was also too soft for my liking. I had messaged the hotel the day before asking about a room with an opening window but received no reply; the windows are sealed. Drinking water could also be more conveniently available. Ice machines are only on alternate floors, and the drinking fountain near the fitness area is not designed for easily filling bottles, although small bottles are available at reception.
Comfortable room
Cons It wasn't clear where to park for check-in. There should be posted signs regarding check-in...in the garage. Is there a charge for the first hour, or something like that? Not everyone knows what to do... I saw others also circling around trying to figure out where to temporarily park for checkin.
