Location was fantastic and great views. Sister hotel next door had a infi ity pool which could be used for guests staying at the original site. Ambience in & out of the hotel great. Grrat meals in the restaurants.

What I Like About the Property * Beautiful heritage property and ambience The hotel has a beautiful colonial/heritage character, and the overall property is aesthetically pleasing. The atmosphere is definitely one of the strongest aspects of the hotel. * Turndown service The turndown service was very efficient and well executed. This was one of the few areas where I felt the service reflected the standard I would expect from a five-star hotel. * Breakfast The breakfast was good and offered a pleasant dining experience. This was another highlight of the stay. * Overall potential The property itself is beautiful and has all the elements to deliver a truly luxurious five-star experience. Unfortunately, I felt that the service did not consistently match the quality of the property.

Cons What I Don’t Like About the Property * Service does not feel five-star This was my biggest concern during the stay. Despite being a five-star hotel and charging a premium price, I barely felt like I was experiencing a five-star level of service. * Lack of attentiveness at the entrance I stayed in the Victory Annexe Wing, and there were barely any doormen available to assist us. The door was only opened for us once or twice during the entire stay. While this may seem like a small detail, these little touches are important when positioning a property as a high-end luxury hotel. * Very disappointing handling of a simple tea request The most frustrating experience was when I requested ginger tea. The hotel initially delivered the wrong tea and wanted to charge us for it. We then waited approximately an hour and a half for the incorrect tea to be collected and for the correct tea to arrive — but it never did. We called approximately four to five times to follow up. After nearly two hours of waiting, we were finally contacted and told that they did have ginger tea available, but it would cost RM20. The RM20 was not the issue. I would have happily paid for the tea if the request had been handled properly. What was disappointing was being made to wait for almost two hours, repeatedly having to call and follow up, only to eventually be told that the tea was available. If the hotel did not have ginger tea available, I would have much preferred to be told upfront rather than having our time wasted. Given the inconvenience caused, I also feel that offering the tea complimentary would have been a reasonable gesture of goodwill from a five-star hotel. Instead, the incorrect tea was taken away, we waited for hours, and ultimately the correct tea never arrived. This was easily the most disappointing service experience of the stay.

Superbe séjour

Magnifique séjour ! Nous avons tout apprécié : le faste de l’hôtel et son charme indéniable, le confort de la chambre, la décoration et la hauteur sous plafond, ainsi que la belle vue depuis la terrasse. Le personnel est adorable. Se reposer autour de l’espace piscine (très bien agencé) ou au lounge était très agréable. Le petit-déjeuner était copieux et délicieux.

Cons Il serait vraiment appréciable d’avoir des fruits frais tropicaux !

Exceptional hotel in Penang

Impeccable service and historical hotel. It is very well maintained and equipped with modern facilities. Free canapés every evening and free coffee/tea throughout the day. Very nice rooms and swimming pools overlooking the sea. Breakfast includes made to order ckt and roti canai. Amazing!
