Fairmont Royal York

Another fabulous getaway to the iconic Royal York!!

I’ve stayed there many times. A joy to stay there.

Cons No complaints at all!!

The lobby is beautiful, if not a little overwhelming. The cocktail bar, Clockwork, in the middle of the lobby is very impressive, as is the other cocktail bar, Monogram, nearby. The restaurant, Reign was amazing as well! The staff throughout the hotel is extremely attentive, friendly, and helpful.

Cons It is a huge property with a lot of walking to get to the reception desk, especially from the valet parking entrance. As impressive as the lobby is, the rooms are very dated (circa 1980s) and could definitely use a refurbishment. The hallways were also dated with very worn carpeting and not very fresh-smelling.

I choose the Fairmont Royal York based on its close proximity to the events that I am attending.

Very disappointing. Would not stay there again.,

Location. Access from Union Station due to us arriving from Montreal via train.

Cons We booked a room with a king size bed. When we arrived the agent on the desk said I can give you a refurbished room, but it has a queen size bed. That was out first mistake taking the room with the queen size bed. We didn't sleep at all due to the size of the bed. Went down the next morning to Reception to try to move into a room with a king size bed but they wanted to put our bags into the room when available. As we were going on a 9-hour tour of Niagara Falls and not due to get back until after midnight that was not an option as we had a flight to catch in the morning. Also, the bathroom in the refurbished room was so small and the shower base was slanted and very slippery.
