Perfect, with an exceptional team

I only checked out of this hotel about one hour ago, but I feel I must write a review ASAP whilst my stay is fresh in my mind. I’m not sure where to start really - I am a huge fan of the Four Seasons but the team here are a cut above the rest. The care, consideration, hospitality, and kindness showed to me by every member of the team was outstanding. My stay here was booked months and months in advance, and was intended to be a late birthday trip and a mini honeymoon for my husband and I, as we had just married at the end of August. He was denied entry to Turkey due to a damaged passport, but as he had already paid for the huge suite, he told me to go and try to enjoy myself. I arrived visibly distressed, rattled, and extremely upset. I didn’t really want to be there without my husband and we had been looking forward to this for a long time. I even cancelled the extra day that we had booked at the 4S because I wanted to leave earlier. The team were immediately calming, warm, and extremely welcoming. They spent the next three days making the best out of a terrible situation - bringing me flowers, cakes, random desserts, checking in on me and making me feel at home. I eventually found to be enjoying my time in Istanbul so much that I reinstated the extra day at the 4S, and had initially booked the extra night in the smallest room (to save money) which would have required a room change from the suite my husband and I booked. The real shock came when the staff told me I could stay in the suite as an upgrade, and I needn’t worry about the rate - it would just reflect the rate of the smallest room that I planned on moving to. I have to say I was completely in awe and blown away by the generosity here, and knowing that the team there were simply trying to make my situation as comfortable as possible was so special. The grounds itself are beautiful and my room (executive king) was incredible and decorated with birthday decorations on my arrival.

Sublime--no wonder it has 3 Michelin Keys!

Pros: Unbeatable location for touring Sultanahmet (old town), especially for first-time visitors to the city. Exceptional staff: very attentive and friendly. Excellent restaurants--breakfast was great and dinner at Avlu was top-notch. Luxurious comfort, yet not ostentatious. The room was spacious and clean, the pillows and linens were a dream, as were the towels and bath products; the room temperature was easily adjusted, and the blackout shades were a game changer.

Cons Cons: The shower pressure in our room could have been better.
