Galle Face Hotel

This is like stepping back in time - a really beautiful old building steeped in history. The facilities and breakfast were wonderful, the saltwater pool a highlight. Every floor has beautiful carvings and art. A total treat.

Cons Staff are very attentive but it’s a bit overwhelming - all porters and hospitality are quite pushy at times with trying to get you to book a driver etc. we also found that given the prices charged, the service at the restaurants was very slow - we often had to ask several times before drinks arrived etc.

Uns hat sehr gut die tolle Führung durch das sehr besondere und geschichtsträchtige Hotel gefallen, welches von Shaini geführt wurde. Das Hotel ist eine Sehenswürdigkeit an sich und lohnt sich auf jeden Fall bei einem Trip nach Colombo. Sehr gutes und reichhaltiges Frühstücksbuffet.

Cons Etwas höhere Preise für für Essen und Getränke im Restaurant, die jedoch durch den kolonialen Charme des Hotels gerechtfertigt sind.

splendido hotel coloniale, fronte mare

Hotel molto affascinante, con una vista splendida sull'oceano. Personale molto gentile e attento a soddisfare ogni esigenza. Piscina molto bella, con vista mare. Abbiamo anche cenato e ci siamo trovati molto bene. Camera molto ampia. Posizione comoda.

Cons La camera poteva essere più pulita: i vetri della finestra,ad esempio, erano molto macchiati per l'umidità. Il phon in camera era poco potente e un po' vecchio. In un hotel di questo livello mi aspetterei una maggiore cura per questi dettagli.

The setting, morning laps in pool, buffet breakfast amazing. Friendly staff. The history. Had stayed here 25 years ago. Just as good as I remembered.
