Grand Hyatt Macau - a destination
As globalists, we’ve been to many Hyatts and we can confidently say that Grand Hyatt Macau is at the top in terms of staff friendliness, attentiveness and helpfulness. Not sure how GHM hire/train/retain their excellent staff but I wish other Hyatts can do the same. We consider Grand Hyatt Macau a destination in itself when considering visiting Macau. The hotel is just a short walk to the Venetian and other Casinos. Our room was clean, well appointed and the hotel/casino surroundings are very well kept. Free shuttles to various locations including Macau Central, the port and airport are available right outside and to the left of the hotel.
It’s the staff members who made our stay so wonderful and memorable! Ken from the executive lounge helped us check in and detailed the amenities available to us. We see Ken on multiple occasions during our 3 night stay and he always seem to be on top of things on the floor. The times that we conversed Ken made sure our needs were being met completely. Peggy on the executive floor is just wonderful and attentive. My wife has a bit of a chronic cough and Peggy noticed from across the room and brought her a warm water as we were sitting down. It was exactly what she needed and we were touched. On our second night we met Joseph, a friendly face from last year when we were at Grand Hyatt Macau for the first time. Our interactions with Joseph from last time was a big part of our coming back and taking our son to experience the wonderful staffing and food. Joseph recognized us which made us very happy (imagine the sheer number of guests that comes through). We were not disappointed with our dining experience.
At breakfast for the first day we met Chennise who’s friendliness made us feel at home instantly. By the second day Chennise anticipated our needs and helped my son with his repeat request for eggs benedict with smoked salmon, no-pulp fresh squeezed orange juice, and recommended lobster congee to us (which we weren’t aware of and was delicious). Chennise also introduced us to Aris the assistant room service manager. Aris was quite knowledgeable about other Grand Hyatt locations and we gleaned some info from Aris in our short chat after breakfast. Btw, we had requested a corner table because of my wife’s occasional cough and Aris and Chennise said they would reserve it for us on the last day. On the third day we once again met a friendly face (Christine) from last year. No surprise - Christine also remembered us! We had a good time conversing and we’re glad Christine was still with Grand Hyatt Macau. Kudos to Kris as well for helping at the table.
So there’s best food to go with the best staff experience. We had to have shrimp wonton noodle every day. The fresh baked pineapple rolls are so worth waiting for and the lobster seafood congee is so yummy. Krispy pork belly in rolls - wow. There’s so many other choices but we love basic dishes done really well!
We will be back!

Enjoyable Stay with Elderly and Kids
The hotel is very conveniently located at the Macau strip, with access to the train bringing you to Taipa within 4-5 stops. There is also shuttle to and from the port with some waiting time.
The rooms we got based on our package with house of dancing water show were spacious and clean. The pool area and the women's lounge were well maintained and clean.
The staff were also very attentive and welcoming.

Awesome stay in Macau
Fantastic hotel, exceptional club lounge, huge rooms, awesome swimming pool with many little hot tubs. Huge amount of breakfast options at Mezza. Convenient location next to City of dreams shops and casino as well as shops in the Londoner and the Venetian.

International travelers - Avoid this hotel at all costs
This hotel is definitely a hotel to skip for any western/non Chinese speaking guest, starting by the fact that most of the staff doesn’t speak any (basic) English. We experienced this problem in the reception (including assistant front desk that checked us in), in the concierge, in the housekeeping, in the breakfast and in the lounge - so definitely it’s not an isolated case but rather a widespread issue.
Several other issues that make it a really poor experience from a cost benefit perspective (as it’s a quite expensive hotel):
- room smelling to tobacco when checking in atound 11pm, more than 1h to solve and change to another one that was slightly better but also not great from smelling perspective
- they have several free shuttles from the compound of City of dreams but don’t communicate it in advance
- tried to speak with whoever is the actual manager of this property that decides on compensation for such an underwhelming experience, but couldn’t never speak with him/her - Mr Leon in the reception told us it needed be through him and we couldn’t speak with his bosses . That he tried hard but they were not willing to give fair compensation for terrible experience

Impeccable Service!
Been to quite a few Grand Hyatt in the region but definitely my favorite in terms of service! Special thanks go to Joseph (Korean chap) in the lounge and Aris (Philippino chap) in the breakfast buffet, they both are exceptional and I’m truly impressed.

Two nights at the Grand Hyatt Macau
We stayed two nights at the Fountain View Room and the view of the waters of the fountain below was beautiful. Please note that if you book the Dancing Water show with your rooms, you would need to book the nights separately or you would end up with going for the show on both nights.
The Show was excellent and should not be missed. The acrobats, the sets and the lighting, with the theatre specially designed and built for this show. We went for the 5pm show so that we would not need to rush through dinner. We finished the evening at Beijing Restaurant, a few steps from the theatre. Highly recommended. Casual relaxed ambience, good service excellent food.
