Hilton Portland Downtown

Nice hotel, lots of hidden fees -- not worth it.

I really liked the location of the hotel. It was nicely kept and there was a level of class that definitely met my expectations and made it a beautifu place ot stay.

Cons There were a lot of hidden fees. The continental breakfast cost extra, we had to use valet parking because the normal parking lot was "full" both nights that we stayed, and they "upgraded" our room without our permission. It felt like everything we wanted to do just to have a normal hotel stay cost extra. They also charged an extra $150 when we got there as a "holding fee" for all of the expenses (which ended up costing more anyways). I don't like how they were not upfront about these extra costs. If I had known about them before booking I would have chosen a different location, no matter how much I liked the hotel otherwise.

Cons My door entry lock for my room broke. I spent an hour of my morning going up and down to reception to change keys etc being assured it would work. It didnt. Security was eventually called to come and reboot the battery in the lock. Meanwhile I missed my important morning conference session completely! Nothiing more was said about this, as if it was usual and acceptable. I mourn what I missed of the conference. I recognise these things happen, but it affected my stay dramatically.

Location.

Cons Smaller rooms (even though we stayed in one of the larger ones), small bathrooms, bathtub was slow to drain water. They charged double the price on my credit card of what showed on Booking.com. I had to show them the price on my phone. It seems their system was not synced up.

Beautiful area easily accessible

Cons No complementary breakfast...no coffee or cups in room to use coffee machine and bedding had some staining on the edges.

Nice place good location

Cons Paying 90$ for parking for 2 nights and that was parking our car ourselves. It would have been a lot higher if valet parked our car. The food offered in the restaurants inside was kinda expensive.
