Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa on Del Monte Golf Course

Cons The hotel wrongly charged a restaurant dinning spending without confirming that the spending was actually incurred by us. The restaurant charge happened after we have already checked out of the hotel so it is very surprising how the cost could be accepted by the restaurant staff. We had to call the hotel back several times once we learned about the charge hitting our credit card. The hotel staff first argued that this was a spending incurred by us and didn’t even want to find out what actually happened. The communication was quite frustrating. For travelers staying in the hotel, advice to always double check your credit card bill to avoid wrongful charges.

Cons ⭐️Extremely disappointing for a 5-star hotel Unfortunately, our stay was extremely disappointing. For a 5-star hotel, the room and service were nowhere near the standard we expected. The room was missing basic amenities: * No bathrobes * No slippers * No toothbrushes or toothpaste * No complimentary drinking water * No kettle * No glasses There was also a strong smell of dampness, the room was dirty, and the sink was damaged/broken. The carpet was especially dirty — after our two young children walked barefoot on it for about 10 minutes, their feet were visibly dirty. Overall, everything felt old and poorly maintained, and there was simply nothing about the room that felt like a 5-star experience. We were traveling with two young children and asked at check-in if we could have a room that did not face the parking lot, as we were concerned about noise. We were told there were no other rooms available, although we could see several rooms available online. No effort was made to find a solution or make our stay more comfortable. Breakfast was another disappointment. Nobody explained how or where to get the food. With two children in our arms, it was very inconvenient to figure everything out ourselves. We were simply handed a paid menu. The oatmeal was not good, although the avocado toast was decent. The coffee was terrible, but even worse, the coffee cup had a strong dish-soap taste. The service was honestly 2/10. In the evening, around 9:30 PM, I wanted a simple cup of tea. There was no drinking water or kettle in the room, and finding tea at that hour was surprisingly difficult. The front desk refused to help and simply pointed me toward a hot-water dispenser with one small plastic cup, which was obviously not practical for carrying hot water to the room. We travel quite often, and I have never experienced such a low level of service and such a lack of basic amenities in a hotel advertised as 5-star.

Great place for a golf trip!

Facilities and staff were great. On vacation with friends for a golf trip - location was great. Multiple courses very near the hotel including the Del Monte of course. Had a great time!

Your shuttle driver Charlie, went out of his way to assist me upon my arrival at 9 p.m. He offered to assit me when I had to retrun my rented vehicle a the Monterey airport. He asked me to follow him; helped me to take my car to the return parking lot, and where to return my key; he then drove me back with shuttle to the hotel, safe and sound. I truly appreciate his efforts and I truly believe he needs to be recognized as an excellent employee and a wonderful individual. Thank you.

Great location, beautiful views but mediocre service and rooms

Great location with beautiful views of the golf course. The staff were friendly but had some communication issues: 1. told us "parking is included" but still charged us in the end 2. back-and-forth on availability of housekeeping items, which wasted us lots of time Most hotel buildings are 3-floor, and we stayed on the second floor where the soundproofing was awful - could hear everything in the hallway / floor above.

Cons For the price that we paid, so not worth it. As soon as I walked in to the room there was this bad smell that we couldn’t get rid of. The room was not clean, dirty carpet, bathroom was not so clean. I was disappointed!
