Clean and comfortable

Convenient location next door to the train station and blocks from the beach. Perfect for one night stay. They allow late check in and there is plenty of free street parking. Beds include curtains for privacy and the showers are clean. Coffee in the morning is fantastic. While they do offer two eggs for you to cook and pancake batter to put on the griddle, Jeannine's is just down the street for one of the best breakfasts in town. Book ahead to get the best price.

A vibey stay with a great community.

I thought that the breakfast was excellent! Really rad to be able to make your own pancakes, eggs, etc. Coffee being brewed by the staff super early was amazing. I also loved the communal area, all of the other guests were super cool. Tons of games and books available to use while staying!

Cons I think the beds could be a little more comfy, but for a hostel it was not bad at all. I have serious back issues and was able to sleep through each night no problem. I don't really have any complaints.

Insanitary hostel - diseased contagion.

I understand hostels are supposed to be a little gross but this hostel needs the health board to investigate. There were Lyce in the beds. The employees were sick and coughing profusely. The windows were all closed and we weren’t even allowed to open the door for air. Anyone who stayed there was at a health risk and the staff had an attitude about that like it was a standard policy.

Cons Completely unsanitary and staff members were not just rude they were insane (two of them the women).

Like staying at a gtesfriend's

Staff is helpful and accommodating. Comfy beds, large bathroom, outdoor space is top notch. All this so, so close to the train, restaurants, and beach!

Our stay was pleasant and fun. The staff and the cleanliness of the bathrooms are the strengths of this hostel.

Very close to downtown and the beach. Can stay here without a car if plan is only going around Santa Barbara and staying close to places served by MTB bus lines. For a hostel, they were able to keep the bathrooms and the whole place clean and free of unpleasant smells. The staff is very warm and friendly which makes them stand out from regular hotels which can feel impersonal.

Cons A bit run down. Needs a bit of TLC in maintaining the building as well as fixing/ replacing broken fixtures like wall plugs and portable fans inside the bunk stalls. Would be really helpful especially during 90 degree weather. Would also be nice if they can provide free drinking water all day to fill up our portable water containers to stay hydrated.
