Monterey Beach Hotel, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Perfect spot for a getaway in Monterey!

The location was amazing. Our rooms were just steps down to the beach. You could enjoy a glass of wine and make s'mores at the firepits overlooking the ocean. Just a few minutes drive to Cannery Row. My new favorite hotel in Monterey!

Cons The pillows. The bed and bedding were fine, but the pillows were flat and hard. I recommend bringing your own from home.

Great beachfront spot away from the crowds, but lacking privacy and attention to detail

The Good: Incredible beachfront positioning away from the busy downtown Monterey tourist strip. Very good restaurant with high-quality food and stellar views. The Not So Good: Privacy Issues: Paying for a beachfront room implies private views, but exterior corridors pass directly outside the window. You are forced to choose between total exposure to passersby or drawing the curtains and losing the view entirely. Inconsistent Room Sizes: Our room was quite cramped compared to neighboring rooms. Front desk staff insisted all rooms were the same size, but walking around proved that was not the case. The room only contained one chair, forcing my wife and I to take turns using it. Service: Elite loyalty recognition was virtually non-existent. The Ugly: Property Grounds & Beach Trash: Noticeable trash around the hotel exterior and beach pathway. While public beach spaces are hard to manage, the hotel should actively maintain its surrounding grounds and primary access paths.

Good location but won't be back

Location was good.

Cons The room was very small. Minimalist. Room lacked storage, no place to hang a towel near the sink. Used towels on a countertop is gross. Could barely open the door to the tiniest toilet and shower area without banging in to it. Dangerous and slippery tub shower combo with no mat or grab bar. The whole room seemed lacking simple amenities for the price. $50.00 a night to park plus tax came to $227.00. Outrageous!

Overpriced hotel with a fabulous restaurant.

Its position on the beach was gorgeous. The restaurant was excellent.

Cons It was VERY expensive for what it was and the housekeeping/reception function were very dozy.

Best All Around

Best Hospitality Ever! Sheevani @ Hotel check-in made my Birthday Get away the Best!! When your first encounter at check-in is pleasant you know it's only going to get better & it did. From the Ocean View room which were Super Clean to the Restaurant, Wine & Special Dessert treat..We will definitely recommend and be back.
