From Lagos to Scandinavia, Without Leaving Victoria Island!
There is a forest in Lagos. Not a particularly large one, admittedly, and you won't find it marked on any map. But step inside the Nordic Hotel, breathe in the wonderful *Skog* fragrance (the Scandinavian word for 'forest'), and you could almost convince yourself that you've wandered into the woodlands of Denmark; It's a wonderfully evocative touch, and just one of the reasons I absolutely adore this hotel. This was another return visit, and I remain convinced that the Nordic is the cleanest, most pristine hotel I've encountered anywhere in Lagos. Everything is immaculate. Not just clean, but *Nordic clean*, where you begin to suspect that even the dust has been politely instructed to leave its shoes at the door. I was particularly delighted to find two individual single duvets on my double bed. Having spent time in Denmark, where this arrangement is wonderfully familiar, it brought an immediate smile to my face. Such a small detail, but such a lovely reminder of a country I've enjoyed visiting. Outside, the swimming pool sits in what feels like a little oasis of calm. It's genuinely difficult to believe that the magnificent madness of Lagos is carrying on just beyond the hotel's boundaries. And now there's a new pleasure to enjoy: Friday evening entertainment beside the pool. A welcome addition that brings a little extra life to an already delightful setting. The staff, meanwhile, are simply outstanding. Warm, attentive, friendly and thoroughly professional, they provide the sort of hospitality that makes you feel entirely at ease from the moment you arrive. What I love about the Nordic is that its Scandinavian character isn't simply a decorative theme. It's woven into the experience, from the immaculate surroundings to the individual duvets, the peaceful poolside atmosphere and, of course, that wonderful woodland fragrance.
