Staff were excellent - especially Nancy (duty manager) and Carole on front desk. Happy to change my room with no questions.

Cons Room service menu was a bit limited. Wifi was terrible

Cons Hotel as a whole and room in need of some TLC. Rooms are large but very dated - stains all over the carpet were not what I expected from the Shangri-La brand. Could be great with a renovation. Fake flowers and tacky displays of panda toys also not consistent with a five star hotel.

I arrived early and was offered an upgrade to a Horizon Club room which provided early check in, laundry and access to happy hour at the Horizon Club Lounge. It ended up being great value for money. The happy hour was more like a full dinner spread and was a great option for an evening meal when you're tired after a long day of sightseeing and dont want to step out again. Our river view room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Housekeeping was impeccable and the breakfast buffet was extensive.
