Shangri-La Hotel, Chengdu

Rooms are old with dirty carpets and furniture, some smell like cigarettes despite non-smoking designations. Views of the city and river are excellent. Staff service varies wildly: most are helpful and warm, but management can be unresponsive to complaints.
