The front desk staff warmly welcomed us and immediately checked into getting us booked for a meal - we were arriving on the late end for lunch on Sunday. The meal was excellent - we had the Sunday roast. You can order from the bar menu in the restaurant as well, which my sons did to get burgers. We chose the full breakfast in the morning - the wait staff was kind and very attentive, food was excellent - my husband is diabetic so needed low sugar/low carb options and there were many available for the meal. The amenities in the room are from the Irene Forte spa, which is present in most Rocco Forte hotels. The little details and attention to guests like slippers for turn down service, and immediately providing umbrellas for our evening walk when the rain started were very appreciated. Location is excellent, directly by Waverley station, and nearby the St. Andrews Square and Princes Street tram stations from the airport. Most old town activities are less than a 15 minute walk.

Cons We had requested that rooms be located nearby, and that was not possible - however the arrangement worked with one floor apart. When booking, I had wanted a room with two separate beds for my sons - we could not find one on the site. The room they had with a king bed was two double beds pushed together with a king sheet set - this could have been converted to two beds. This was minor in the grand scheme, the hotel did a great job hosting us otherwise.

We've stayed there several times, always excellent.

Cons Price at festival time. ‘Suggested’ pre-charge of 5% to cover service we hadn’t yet experienced. Put me right off the place, unfortunately!

fabulous hotel with amazing whisky collection

The staff go above and beyond to meet your expectations. Very friendly and always on hand to try and assist. Ross in the whisky bar is a walking encyclopedia.

Alle Restaurants waren toll, wir haben sowohl das Nachtessen im Number One, wie das Frühstück sehr genossen.

Cons Das Zimmer war eine grosse Enttäuschung, für 1400 SFR war es das schlechteste Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, das wir je erlebt haben. Das Zimmer war recht klein mit Blick an eine Hausmauer. Das Zimmer hatte keinen Charme, nichts historisches, es sah aus, wie ein Businesshotel. Im Badezimmer schaute noch ein Kabel aus der Wand. Die Klimaanlage war sehr laut und stank nach Essen, die Fenster liessen sich nicht öffnen.
