The Monterey Hotel

So-so.

Exceptional location; convenient walking to amenities & wharf for whale watching. Good coffee at Plumes & restaurants along Alvarado St. Also the staff were friendly, personable, & helpful. WiFi is always helpful when traveling.

Cons The hotel needs a thorough cleaning especially the carpets. The mattresses are old & slanted, but comfortable enough. The bathtub was tiny, but the shower worked well & good water pressure.

Cons The Hotel looked far better in the pictures than it did in real life, the carpets throughout the building didn't look as though they had seen a hoover in weeks, the TV in our room did not work, and the hot water took 15 minutes to get warm enough to wash or think about a shower!

Great place to stay to attend Golden State theater productions, though parking somewhat challenging

Location was great. Price was okay

Cons The beds were sloped towards the middle and the pillows were hard. Not much of a thermostat if it gets hot which it was. Ceiling fan helps. Bath is so small that you can’t avoid touching the curtain if you are standing in it. Carpet in the hallways are a nice vintage looking red but they are all stained. Sleeping next to the door you can hear everything going on outside your door.

Good location. Ok hotel.

Central location in downtown. Parking lot for 8 dollars a day within walking distance. Beautiful interior.

Cons No fridge in the room. Had to ask front desk for ice as only ice machine was accessible only to staff. Turn down service unavailable due to staff shortages. Room was near a very loud hallway.
