Exceptional Luxury with Impeccable Butler Service
My stay at The St. Regis Osaka was nothing short of extraordinary. Located right on Midosuji Boulevard and directly above Honmachi Station, the hotel offers a serene oasis of luxury in the heart of a bustling city. From the moment we arrived, the legendary St. Regis hospitality made us feel completely pampered. A special mention must go to the signature St. Regis Butler Service. Whether it was having our garments pressed upon arrival or receiving a steaming pot of green tea delivered right to our door in the morning, the attention to detail and personalized care were truly top-tier. Breakfast: Served with immaculate presentation, the breakfast selection offered a stellar balance of high-end Western options and authentic Japanese breakfast sets, featuring ultra-fresh local ingredients. Verdict The St. Regis Osaka redefines luxury hospitality. It’s the perfect choice for travelers looking for refined elegance, unmatched service, and a prime location in Osaka. I cannot wait to return!
Sadly disappointing for the cost and expectation
I travel a lot and I stick to Marriott properties (Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador level). After a lot of research on which property to stay at in Osaka, we had decided to book the St. Regis in Osaka to end our 10 day trip to Japan. After 4 other hotels (Marriott properties) along our 10 day journey, sadly the St. Regis in Osaka was by far the most disappointing of our stays (for what I paid). The hotel is beautiful and definitely has a luxury look and feel to it. The staff was very kind, hospitable and accommodating, but the amenities and overall service were (IMO) lacking. But, there were some great things about this beautiful hotel. The hotel is gorgeous and our room had an amazing view of Osaka and the location of the hotel was perfect……the subway was just a few steps away, Starbucks is across the street and the covered walkway heading to Midosuji, Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori are across the street. Great restaurants and shopping all steps away. Our stay was lovely and it is not that anything was wrong with this hotel, but it was more of what was missing in comparison to other properties of equal or less than star ratings. We were greeted by a lovely Bellman (I forget his name….British fellow) who was so friendly and amazing!! Check in was lovely, but took forever. We were tired from our trip and wanted to be able to check-in and get settled and head out to explore as this was our last night in Japan. Instead, the check in process took forever and we were told to wait in our room for the butler who would be bringing us a “welcome drink”. The butler finally arrived after 30 minutes. He was nice, friendly and spoke great english, but he proceeded to go through a full presentation on the TV that lasted a long while. The butler did speak great English and he had a special touch of bringing a small mousse cake for my son’s birthday and they made cute elephants out of towels on the bed at turndown service. The room was nice, but cramped and outdated. There was 1 electrical outlet by the bed, but no USB outlets whatsoever anywhere in the room. The bathroom did have toiletries that were nice, but they did not offer facial care products that every other hotel we stayed in while in Japan did. The room had a foot massager, but it was broken (or maybe I just couldn’t figure out how to use it) and they had a humidifier, but again…..I couldn’t get it to work. There was not an ironing board or iron in the room, which I assume was because the Butler said that he would iron what we needed, but considering how long it took for the Butler to arrive the other times I called, I just wanted to do a quick steam and press myself, but I couldn’t. The gym was very tiny and had very limited strength and conditioning options and did not have any space for stretching or personal exercises. No disinfectant wipes or spray either. After traveling Japan and having an Onsen each morning, I was also disappointed that there was not an onsen or spa area at this hotel (there was a spa for services). I tried their “signature” Bloody Mary drink and it was not good. I did not even drink it all (which tells you a lot). The breakfast was nice, but again very disappointing in regards to options vs a Westin and Prince Hotel. I tried their hotel signature Miso Omlette and both my son and I thought that it was awful. At checkout, we called the butler line and asked for luggage assistance and a taxi to take us to the KIX airport. It took over 30 minutes for the butler to arrive to help with the luggage and she did not bring a cart, so we ended up taking our own luggage down. It turned out that they hadn’t called a taxi, so I had to call one myself (which I would’ve happily done from the first place), and we ended up leaving 20 minutes later than I had hoped to get to the airport. Upon leaving the St. Regis, I looked back at the Marriott in Osaka and in hindsight I wish I would’ve booked there instead. They would’ve had an M club, full gym, and at least equivalent amenities for a much lower price. This hotel did not feel that it had that Japanese special touch that I felt everywhere else that we stayed along our travels. I would have let go of the “pomp and circumstance” to have some of the smaller touches that really make a difference to me.
Great hotel and attentive staff
Great location next to the train station and near convenience, stores and Starbucks. Positive atmosphere with Friendly and attentive staff. Butler service is a plus. Butlers went out of their way to help us with our everyday needs. Also when I needed to repair a suitcase, they assisted me with tools needed to make the repair. As a Bonvoy Marriott platinum they offered an upgraded room and the usual amenities. We visited the restaurant for breakfast and they offered both American and Japanese entrees, but the selection and the service was average. Another benefit was the butler would bring extra towels, water, and coffee as needed. We love the Butler box where they would put their items in and flash a light on control panel so you wouldn’t have to open the door upon their visit. This is the first time staying at a Saint Regis Hotel, but it won’t be our last time this hotel provided a great first impression and we would recommend it to others.
