Between booking and arrival, your reservation is doing quiet work for you.
What your booking carries
Your booking reaches the hotel with your details and your saved preferences. At beta hotels it carries your exact-room ask by number too. Written requests on the reservation are what desks actually read.
At the desk
Give your name. If the hotel asked for one, give the confirmation number from your trip page. Booked an exact room? Say it out loud: "I requested room 434 on the booking." Desks honor written asks far more often when the guest names them too.
If check-in goes sideways
Room not ready. Room not right. Reservation not found. Open your trip page for the confirmation details, and reach the concierge if you want Roomza in the conversation. See How do I reach my hotel or get help?
If the room you get is not the room you booked, you are backed. See What if my room isn't what I booked?
